Can I cut petunias so that they become bushy again?

I already pinch the dead or dying petunia so to promote regrowth, but they are in pots and also some in the ground have appeared to become to heavy or n ot as not as bushy as before, still lots of blooms through. Stems seems to become stringy looking. Where would I cut stems, so not too loosing potential for rebloom?

Yup. Petunias neet a good cutback every once in a while just to keep from getting too "leggy". Hack them back, feed 'em, and they'll look like new again in a couple of weeks.
Reply:You can cut them anywhere along the length of the stem, preferably just after a leaf. This will send new shoots out. Give them a good drink of fertilizer water right after to help the plants get over the shock.
Reply:You need to just keep cutting them back, even the ones that have blooms. Good luck.
