How do Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon spoil Dudley [Harry Potter's Cousin] ?

In the Harry Potter movies, Aunt Petunia and uncle Vernon are always giving Harry's cousin Dudley everything he wants, and taking his side no matter what, how does this show that they are spoiling him please explain. Best answer gets 10 points.

because they hate harry because he's lucky because he is a wizard. {and lily which was aunt petunias sister and harrys mom was liked better by the parents. its in the first movie} Dudley gets everything he wants because he parents like him.
Reply:Whenever a parent gives a child whatever he/she wants to the point when they start screaming when they don't recive something they want. An example of the harry potter thing you mentioned, was in the first movie on Dudley's birthday he gets-I think- 37 presents. When Uncle Vernon tells him this Dudley throws a fit says last year I got 38!!!!!!!!! Then Uncle Vernon says he will buy him 2 more presents. I hope that answers you question! :)

Reply:They favor him, they hate Harry. Isn't that like spoiling him?
Reply:How about in the first one, they gave dudley like 36 presents in the second scene of the movie and dudley got mad because last year he got 37 so his parents said, oh well we're going to get 2 more while we're out. That's spoiled... They fall in to his every whim and need. i guess i see what you mean we don't actually see what the presents are... but i still see him as spoiled his parents do everything for him.

Reply:in the first harry potter dudly's birthday was coming up and they get him like 165 presents last year and this year only like 163 or something and dudley got REALLY mad so they went and got him 2 more after the zoo even though the ones this year were even bigger and more expensive.

they are much more explicit in how dudley is spoiled - buying him a racing bike, real air rifle, 2 bedrooms, 36 birthday presents plus additional ones.





and how his parents let him wander the streets and smoke. they try to stamp the magic out of harry by keeping him as down trodden as possible.

Reply:Well, they buy him whatever he wants, buy him tons of presentson his birthday, and can't even say happy birthday to Harry
Reply:They give him everything he wants whether he has asked for it or not and he is never spanked or slapped(which he needs to be).
Reply:The movies actually do a very poor job of showing how they spoil Dudley. The books go into far greater detail to the horrible treatment of Harry and the pedestal that Dudley is put on.
