How do I care for a petunia?

My friend bought me one from WalMart, %26amp; she encouraged me to try a new hobby in caring for plants in order to manage stress. How often should I water it %26amp; what else do I need to do in order for it to grow healthy %26amp; fine %26amp; not die on me within 3 days?

In the past, I've tried to care for roses %26amp; make them grow, but they died within 3 days. I think I may have drowned it, not knowing how much water to put in it.

How do I care for a petunia?
these are the easiest to care for..... water it once a week (deeply.. till u can see water running out the bottom of the planter)... no fertilizer is needed, keep it in "allday" sun, then pick the drooping blooms off every other day or so... which is called "deadheading!" sit back and enjoy it's beauty!
Reply:Water daily-have at least 2hrs worth of sun.Should do fine! Give some miracle grow about once a week.
Reply:Water regularly for the plant to establish, and thereafter wait until the soil dries out before watering. Over watering will cause foliage to yellow and the plants will eventually die.

This plant does not like high humidity.

Fertilizing should be done once a month. Over fertilizing will result in an abundance of foliage with few flowers.

Petunias thrive in well-drained and fertile soil.

Pruning: Pinch out the growing tips when they reach a height of 3-4 inches to encourage bushy growth. Once the first flowering has taken place, pinch off the dead flowers and the stem to encourage more blooming.

OK, I copied this from a site. I have never had good luck with plants. But hopefully with this info you can do well with yours.
Reply:Carefully plant them in a sun and shade area and clip the tops off (usually current flowers) to build up root base for healthy growth. Don't keep soil constantly damp or wet, let it dry out between watering.
Reply:I just bought some petunias from the garden store and they told me they are very easy to grow. He said "Just give them a little fertilizer and keep the soil moist and they should grow easily". Hope this helps and Good Luck!
