Is the ruellia or mexican petunia native to florida, and if not, is it invasive?

I'm not sure of the species your talking about but I do know that Ruellia stepens and Ruellia caroliniensis are natives in the US they can be found in the woods/woodland edges and clearings. To my knowledge these are not invasive plants.

I'm not sure about ruellia or if either is native to Florida, but I did get a start off Mexican Petunias from a friend and I try to keep them contained but they seem to find their way out of the borders anyway!
