Does anyone know what kind of flowers that deer won't eat. I'm trying to keep some planted on a pets grave.

I had petunias planted and the deer ate them up last night. I don't know what to plant that they won't eat. Any help is appreciated.

Like some others have said...there really is no true deer resistant plant or flower and every herd will eat different flowers. But the suggestions that were given are generally eaten as a last resort. Here are some other "usually" deer resistant flowers that weren't mentioned: Oriental Poppy, Iris, Daffodils, Foxglove, snd Butterfly bush. My suggestion is to try 2 or 3 different kinds of flowers that have been given as suggestions, and if they get eaten, try some others. Pepper spray, hair, urine, deer repellents all work for a short amount of time and constantly need to be reapplied. It would be the one day that you forgot to reapply the deer repellent that they would come and eat all your plants to nubs!

Good luck to you!
Reply:plant marigolds or onion sets in with your flowers or go to your local salon and ask for the sweepings deer hate human hair......
Reply:You can try columbine, Yarrow or salvia. No flower or plant is 100% deer proof however. It depends on the herd and what other food sources are around.
Reply:Marigolds....deer (and rabbits and squirrels and most other animals) don't like the smell or taste. Good Luck and Sorry for your loss.
Reply:I don't know of ANY fresh plant they don't like; but, I CAN make a suggestion to make the deer leave what you plant.

Get 5-6 hot, hot peppers (the hotter the better). Cut a slice down one side and boil them. Dilute the mixture with water and spray your plants. You don't have to dilute the mixture, it just makes it go farther. You can spray it directly on leaves, stem, anywhere on the plant and it won't hurt it.
Reply:i heard that lavender, or lilac works. one of the two or both.hope this works good luck
Reply:this may seem extreme, but human urine will keep them away.
