Why are my petunias getting yellow tipped leaves?

It is possible that it is too much water if you have the petunias planted in a pot that does not drain. I can't think of many plants that like to stand in water, but petunias are quite thristy plants. I water mine every other day.





Are they potted in cast iron? I have two cast iron washpots that I plant petunias in every year. After a while, the inside of the pot rusts, and the soil absorbs the rust. One year I planted petunias 3 times and watched them turn yellow and die before I figured out what the problem was. Now I dump all of the soil out every three years and spray paint the inside of the pot. In fact, I go ahead and spray paint the whole thing with cheap black spray paint. Let it set a day. If you see any places that need a touch up, spray on more paint. You can get a can for around a dollar at Wal-Mart, so be generous with the paint. Then you can put your rocks back in the bottom and add new soil. Your petunias will thank you!





If neither one of these situations is a problem for you, consider cutting them back. Some varieties like to trail. Others like to be pruned. I cut mine back every 3-4 weeks. What is left in the pot looks pretty pitiful, but I feed them immediately, and I have new blooms within a week.

That means there dehidrated you need to put them in a big black trash bag And water them every 2weeks and take them out of the bag in october
Reply:It could be that the soil is deficient in nitrogen. The lack of which sometimes causes leaves to yellow. Make sure you are fertilizing properly.
