It won't wipe off.
If you sprinkle Preen on top of freshly planted Petunias will it kill them?
Preen is meant to kill seeds (mainly WEED seeds). After you sprinkle it, you should not disturb the soil.
The Good News is that this will prevent weeds around your petunias!!

Reply:Preen is a germination inhibitor that isn't supposed to impact growing plants. Your small plants are probably okay, but check the Preen literature or contact the company for the details.
