Do you like the name Petunia?

For a baby girl?

Do you like the name Petunia?
LOVE it! My father (who died when I was 11), used to call me that as a petname when I was a little girl. Its very cute, and very unique as a name!

Reply:No. I remember Petunia Pig from cartoons.
Reply:no its sounds little kiddish and shes not going to be little forever.

Reply:Personally, I think the name is kind of ugly. If you're going to name her after a flower I think Lillian, Rose, or Iris is much prettier.

Reply:Well, I think of Petunia Dursley from Harry Potter ... she's okay at the end of the series, but for most of the books, she's a self-righteous meanie.





And then there's Petunia Pig.





So while I love the sound of Petunia, and adore the flowers, I'm not sure if this would be an easy botanical name for a little girl to wear.





If you like unusual P names there's Penelope, Persephone, Piper and Presley.





Other botanical names include Linden, Rosalind, Lilac and Bryony.





Unfortunately, I think Petunia is one of those great names that just doesn't quite work for a child.
