What do you think happened to the Dursley's in Harry Potter?

I think that ernon and Petunia finaly accepted him, but only because dudley did,





i also think that harry sometimes visits dudly.

Reply:I think that Dudley grew up to be a Muggle like his father, though he accepts Harry for saving him. I think that he will live next to the Dursleys and marry someone just like Petunia. And that they have children, get postcards with owls every now and then, but aren't that close. I think it's a separate world, and even though they accepted the help, Vernon and Petunia will never accept Harry for who he is. And he's better off without them.
Reply:I believe that Harry, although shocked by Dudleys actions in Book 7 realized that He did care. Vernon and Petunia will accept Harrys presence if Dudley did. I can not see Harry spending loads of time with them but I can see him and Dudley coming to understand normal sibling issues and becoming friends.
Reply:I don't think that Harry really wants anything to do with them after all those years. They probably went their seperate ways. It would be very interesting to find out though =)
Reply:I think they parted ways.Vernon and Petunia were not ever going to be accepting of Harry because of what he was. Harry would never forgive them for the way he was raised. He helped them out of kindness and then that was that .
Reply:Shortly after he offed Voldemort, Harry waited until the dead of night, snuck into the Dursley's old house (a little alohomora action), killed Vernon and Petunia via the Avada Kedavra (looks wierd without the italics), cast Muffliato on Dudley's room, and proceeded to torture him until he ended up just like the Longbottoms. And then Harry used the imperious curse on him and made him drive a car off a cliff. Then, before going home to the burrow, young Potter modified the memories of the next door neighbors so that no one remembered that the Dursley's existed.

I am guessing you have read the seventh book I have aswell but I never thought of the dursleys.I think that maybe he never saw them again and lived at the burrow for a while because at the start of the book the dursleys were evacuated and I don't think harry knew the whereabouts
Reply:I think Hermione found them, put a spell on them like she did her parents, and they are happily living different lives under different names in Australia.
Reply:Much as I'd love to believe your version I think its more likely that their paths never crossed Harry's again. I can't see Vernon ever having accepted Harry and after Harry's childhood I doubt Harry could ever forgive them enough to want to have anything to do with them as an adult.


I feel he'd probably almost be able to split his life into three as an adult, his life as a kid with them, his life between learning he was a Wizard and the end of Voldemort and finally his life after it when he was finally allowed to live normally. Because of this I doubt he'd want to see much of the Dursleys as they'd always remind him of when he was a kid.


I also doubt that Vernon'd ever overcome his hatred/fear of magic enough to accept or like Harry much but that Petunia could possibly manage to treat Harry as she would a stranger (which would be an improvement) because of Dudley but her deep jealousy of those with magical talent would probably prevent her ever fully accepting Harry.





Dudley and Harry may possibly speak as adults, but again I think not.


I think it'd probably end up with all the Dursley's just trying to act as if the magical community didn't exist and they had no links to it in the end, same as they did until Harry turned eleven.
Reply:i would really like to think that they are still in contact. they were extremely hard on Harry growing up but now that Harry is all grown up i think that he could look back on it and try to understand how they felt. magic is something we know is not real but it have it in your house its a very intimidating thing. they were very afraid of him. i wish JK Rowling would have said something about that in a different interview. they truly had to love him deep down. you would have to be a monster to feel no attachment or remorse for him. but was it ever answered who sent that howler to Petunia that said something like "remember my last"? i don't remember
Reply:I think that while they will never be one big happy family the Dursleys may have made peace with Harry %26amp; he with them. At least enough to exchange Christmas cards. Petunia was jealous of Lilly's magic growing up but she did love her sister and probably wouldnt want the last connection completely gone, even if she doesnt particularly want him over for dinner.





The howler was sent by Dumbledore to remind her of the promise she made to keep Harry safe.
Reply:I don't think Vernon and Petunia ever accepted Harry despite the fact that Dudley did. As Harry said, the Dursley's were being offered some of the best possible protection, so it seems likely they would have learned of Voldemort's defeat at Harry's hands. At which time I think Dudley would have started terrifying his parents a little by wanting to find Harry. Vernon probably got another job selling drills (or maybe he got his old job back as the Order used a little magic to make his bosses think hae hadn't been gone for a year), but I think he and Petunia were so anti-magic that they would never accept Harry.
