I'm a beginner gardener, what are some easy-to-take care of and beautiful plants that I can grow indoors?

I'm only 14, but I want some way to brighten up my room! I was thinking of some petunias, or sunflowers, but I already have some outside my window.

I know they have to be by a window (duh)

I'm a beginner gardener, what are some easy-to-take care of and beautiful plants that I can grow indoors?
1. African Violets

2. Christmas cactus

3. Zebra plant ( need a lot of lights)

4. Spider plants ( doesn't require a lot of lights)

5. Lucky Bamboo
Reply:The plants you suggest are outside plants and require very high light levels to do well. A window in the house is not good enough. If you want color, an african violet(this is a house plant you can buy at the store) is a good choice....they were my first plant!! An african violet will do best in a window that faces to the south. If your window faces the north, you need to pick a house plant the takes very little light....and not many of these flower too pretty...but they are green! Try a philodendron, or peace lily.
