How do i prevent my petunia to become too leggy and long!?
yes, you need to cut it back when it gets too leggy. usually you do this in mid/late summer, to encourage some new growth and a new flush of flowers. petunias are quite happy to be pruned and you will get much better looking flowers over a longer period.
Reply:Hi,

Other growers, including myself have used our lawn mowers on them!

Yes, lawn mowers!

If you have a large bed of petunias, you can use your lawn mower, (with grass catcher preferred), set to this highest level setting, run through the flower bed 2 to 3 times during the summer.

Give them a good soaking of "Miracle-Gro", and in about a weeks time, you will be in "awe" of how dense and loaded with new flowers your petunias will have.

I do it every summer, using a push-type mower with a grass catcher to collect the cuttings as I mow.
Reply:When you notice it getting leggy, simply pinch it back a few inches. It'll grow back nice and bushy and bloom even better. I've grown petunias in the past and found that if I pinched off the dead flowers the plants didn't get leggy.
Reply:Keep pruning!
Reply:Trim it back it will come back
Reply:You must prune or cut back the petunia to about 6". Don't worry, it should come back. And it should come back healthier.
